Q. How are Trident commercial filters constructed?
A. All commercial filters are fabricated from a hand laid up vessel, built much like a boat hull. Using fiberglass woven roving and mat, the vessel is build in halves using half molds. Once the laminated half vessel is cured, it is removed from the mold, attached to another half, allowed to achieve final cure, then is pressure tested for leaks. Once the completed vessel is tested satisfactorily, it is placed on a mandrel where a continuous colored length of fiberglass strands and resin are automatically wrapped around the completed vessel in precise fashion. This procedure is called Bobbin Winding.. This method of tank fabrication encompasses more material and labor versus other methods of tank building, but the end product is of superior strength and durability when compared to bladder type construction or tank construction without Bobbin Winding.
Q. Can filter tanks have special features other than those offered as standard?
A. Yes. As all Trident commercial filters are constructed to order, the designer can specify special flange sizes, special Inlet/Outlet port locations, stacked tank designs (HL Series), custom or additional manhole locations, prefabricated multi-tank piping manifolds, influent/effluent manometer panels, inspection windows, high PSI tanks, and in most instances, optional colors such as gray, beige, black. Q. How are Trident large size commercial filters packed for shipment to the jobsite?
A. All Trident commercial filters are shipped on shipping pallets built and sized for the specific filter. These pallets are suitable for forklift handling. Large diameter horizontal (HL Series) filters are shipped with lifting eyes integral to the filter housing. Accessories such as manifolds are also packed on pallets for safe shipment
Q. What is the filter tank Limited Warranty period?
A. All Trident commercial sand filters are backed by a generous five (5) year Limited Warranty. Years 1-3 are non-prorated, years 4-5 are prorated.
Q. Are Trident commercial sand filters NSF approved?
A. At this time, no Trident commercial sand filters are NSF approved. However, Trident Filtration has opened projects with NSF for approval of its commercial sand filters and is working towards receiving those approvals.. Check back on the NSF approvals as they will be posted as received.
Q. What is the difference between the vertical K series filters and the horizontal HL series filters?
A. The specific physical and performance differences are clearly indicated in the K Series Data Sheet and theHL Series Data Sheet. But the main difference between these two styles of filters is their respective footprints. The K series has a smaller footprint, but uses the vertical height of the tank to achieve its performance. Conversely, the HL series is able to achieve greater filtration surface areas by virtue of its horizontal orientation and the larger filter bed surface area it provides. You will find that the largest filter areas are available in the HL series when you check the data sheets. The filtration micron performance of both series filters is the same.
Q. What size filter sand and gravel is used on Trident commercial filters?
A. Pea gravel in 1-2 mm sieve size should be used for the bottom 1/3 of the media, with either #20 or #40 silica sand in 0.4 – 0.8 mm sieve size on top.
Q. How much sand and gravel is required for each size commercial filter?
A. Media requirements are clearly indicated on the K Series Data Sheet and the HL Series Data Sheet
Q. What features are standard to each Series and which additional featuares are offered as optional?

Q. If replacement parts are needed in the future, where can they be obtained?
A. If any parts for any commercial filter are needed, your supplier should be your first point of contact. If the supplier cannot supply what is needed, Trident Filtration can supply all of the replacement parts shown in the parts diagrams for each Series.
